There is a very special mood in the air when a sweet little one gets their first taste of cake. I really believe that it is unlike any other dessert experience in life. Not only do a room of people surround the cake with anxious anticipation of the delight to follow but they're also actually hoping for a huge mess. Messiness is the gauge of how well the dessert was received. (If only that rule always applied!) Babies get so excited and perplexed by the newfound delicacy that they move to a state of completely focused intensity. Nothing can tear them from their new discovery. Until, minutes later, cake-covered and awed, they look up with that smile that says this is the greatest food ever!

We were so thrilled to spend the afternoon celebrating precious, joyful, sweet Olivia alongside her wonderful parents. Her smile always melts me, cover it in cake and it's all over. Too much.

It was beautiful outside the day we got to catch up with sweet Addison. It's been such a joy to watch her grow. It's created a unique sense of awe to see not only how much she's changed, but also how much she's retained all that precious sweetness she had from birth. She's grown up to have sparkling eyes, a sweet laugh and a darling little grin complete with baby teeth but she also still has those sweet dimpled cheeks and gentle spirit we've known since the day we met her. She is an absolute delight and I would expect no less with parents like Kevin and Amanda. This little family is one of our absolute favorites, so full of kindness, fun and love. A perfect little trio.

Sitting on the sidelines of this love story has been humbling, challenging and something for which I'm so grateful. The day Erika told me about this boy from Abilene, I watched her eyes begin to light up. 

In the last two years, that glow has grown into real life love. 

If you know Erika and Kyle, you've seen what love really looks like. You've seen what it means to take risks for someone you love.  You recognize what it is to sacrifice in order to be together. You've seen selfless hard work and perseverance...and lets be honest...when their eyes meet, you've maybe even seen actual sparks fly.

Watching my adventure loving friend fall in love with this man who, after a hard day's work, would rather sleep under the stars than in the Four Seasons, has literally been one of the greater blessings of my life. I've learned so much about what love really means from these two.

It was a pleasure to document this season of life for them. We had such a good time shooting Erika and Kyle out at McKinney Falls. They were pretty easy to make look good.
