Garrett's Seniors | Austin Senior Portrait Photographer

Time is the strangest thing to me.

Taking these senior photos only confirmed that tomorrow I'll blink and be 80.

I feel like yesterday I was sitting on the couch with the adorable toddler version of Garrett. Garrett and my brother Ben are the same age, so I watched him grow up. I literally remember the day he started kindergarten, and today he's an adorable high school graduate and I can't believe it.

Garrett wasn't too fired up about senior photos. If it weren't for his grandmother asking for one, he likely would have skipped it all together.

BUT I think you'd agree, he needs to rethink his stance on having photos taken of him. He's too photogenic to avoid the camera forever.

Congratulations, sweet Garrett! Look out, world!

a sweet homecoming

There are barely words to describe how sweet it was to spend an afternoon with this family. Jon had just returned from a deployment, something I can't even begin to imagine. I can hardly go a few weeks without seeing my family so I have no concept of how badly Jon must have been missing his sweet wife, Kyrstie. What made his homecoming even more special was that upon arriving back, he also got to meet his adorable baby boy for the first time. The joy on Jon's face was just undeniable the entire day. It is just obvious that he counts himself blessed and doesn't take a second of life for granted.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little choked up editing these pictures. It was such a sweet homecoming and I just felt so honored to be a part of it.

Thank you Jon, for your selfless service to our country. We are forever grateful for you.

Thank you Kyrstie, I know that your support makes Jon's service possible and we are so indebted to you and all of the military wives that stand strong at home so their husbands can serve our country.

Isn't Sebastian gorgeous?

Sisters, Sisters... | Austin Family Photographer

My sister is one of my very best friends in the world. I'm so lucky to have such a sweet relationship with Rachel. Because of this, anytime I meet sisters I'm fascinated to watch them interact.

These sisters were no exception.

Seriously, this is so cool!

This adorable family had me out to capture photos of them last weekend.

Alyson and her two sisters (Kyrstie and Anna Elisa) had their first babies within months of each other. Can you imagine how happy that grandmother is? She had her first three grandbabies all at once.

We had to squeeze this shoot in because Kyrstie was in route to LA - moving back home with her husband upon his return from deployment in Iraq (that family session to come soon).

Shooting this smiley crew was a HUGE blessing to me. They were so much fun, so warm and  willing to do any crazy thing I asked of them. Which would have been enough, but to top things off...

THEY'RE BABIES ARE ALL ADORABLE!!!!
I can't wait for them to show these off to grandma.

Thank you. Thank you, ladies!

Williams Wedding | Houston Wedding Photography

When we were connected with Lauren and Phillip to photograph their wedding day, we were  stoked about the uniqueness of this couple.

Lauren and Phillip have been together for the better part of their lives. The two have loved each other since high school - which is such a neat kind of love. To finally be joining lives for FOREVER was more than exciting.

Their wedding was a family affair. It was held in the lobby of a beautiful office in downtown Houston, and included all the people most important to them.

We were so so blessed to be a part of their big day!!

Tortured

I'm being tortured.

Okay, that is a big word. What I'm being is a smaller word, maybe tormented. No, smaller still.

I'm being vexed.

Why this vexation you ask?

Well, I'll tell you.

Last weekend our amazing friends Michael and Danielle came to visit and Michael took us to one of his favorite Austin sandwich shops, Avenue B Grocery. It's this precious little store that sells a small amount of grocery items and makes delicious sandwiches in the back.

BUT IT WAS CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND.

Everyday since, I've thought about how cute it was, how delicious the sandwiches probably are, and how much I want to go there immediately. I'll admit I've even added to my own vexation by looking up reviews online and reading things like:

"The store's garlic habanero mayo - WOW, so GOOD!"
"I like this little place with it's perfect park benches outside to enjoy you sandwich"
"The oldest operating grocery store in Austin"
"Frito pie."
"Fresh quality ingredients"
"Charming little mom n pop store"

I've been aching to get a chance to go back but the schedule has yet to allow for that, hence the vexation. (Nothing vexes me quite like unfulfilled food cravings.) So until I get the chance at a delicious sandwich with habanero mayo and a Dublin Dr Pepper, I'll longingly look at pictures and dream of Frito pies.

Isn't it just wonderful?

Thanks for the wonderful weekend, and slight vexation that will, no doubt, turn into sandwich satisfaction sometime soon. You guys are great! And now you have a picture together!
